Event communication
Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta

We take care of all digital communication of the North Sea Regatta through web, newsletters, apps and social media like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.

Delta Lloyd North Sea Regatta is the biggest sailing race event in the Netherlands. Every year more people are drawn to the event. We are in charge of the complete internet coverage of the event: latest news, photography, event information, videos, event information, live coverage, track & trace, shop, results, ticketing, sponsors and social media.

The event evolves and communication needs have grown step by step each year. Together with the organising committee we decided to team up for 5 years in a row. Every year improvements and new initiatives are carefully selected and implemented before the event takes place. Ongoing activities are divided into separate responsibilities and divided amongst team members.

In 2010 we anticipated by implementing a completely new design. The same year a new webshop for ordering team outfits was introduced. In 2011 we upgraded the event with streaming HD live cams in the harbour and on the festival grounds and updated the video players. We also added a newsletter system and a solution for parking tickets. In 2012 the gallery system was completely updated and connected with the Facebook page of the event.

The solution relies on a broad range of hardware and software. Hosting is done in the cloud and static data is stored on S3. Legacy code is written in Microsoft ASP and new solutions are written in Ruby on Rails.

Adobe Flash is slowly being phased out and replaced with SVG, canvas and CSS3. For video we use JW Player as well as YouTube. Our Axis HD cams and streaming servers are used for live event coverage.
